| 内容記述 | Corporate sports clubs have a long history to contribute to the development of elite level sports in Japan. According to statistics, more than half of Japanese Olympians were and are members of corporate sports clubs. The statuses of the members vary. Some are full-time employees and others are contract-based workers. In some sports, the latter are considered as professional players. From the company’s financial perspective, contract-based players are cost efficient, considering that they do not need life-long salaries equivalent to those of full-time employees, even though the higher annual salary is needed for contract-based （professional） highly skillful top players. Corporate sports clubs have contributed to maintaining the ethos and morals of colleagues. After retirement, the experience as players helps the workers with his or her promotion （fame） and leadership acquired through sporting activities is highly evaluated in the business field. However the recent change regarding the type of employment gave a negative impact on this aspect. The purpose of this study is to examine how this change influences the environment of the corporate sports clubs and sporting environment of Japan as a whole. The case study on“ A” Rugby Football Club （a Corporate Sports Club） was carried out, using semi-structured interviews with players, managers and administrative staff and documental analysis on the press release information of“ A” company. Rugby Football Club Due to the higher standard of the games, corporate sports become more and more professionalized; it is therefore now hard to balance both work and sport. The company’s logic to support corporate sports clubs has changed according to this environmental shift. Corporate Social Responsibility is more valued than maintaining the working ethos or developing morals among employees for the purpose of supporting sports clubs within the company. However, the case study on “A” company rugby club reveals that the managing effort achieved the combination of the various different objectives mentioned above regarding corporate sport clubs. In the Japanese school system, the gaps between students who excel at sporting ability and students who excel at academic achievements are widening. This fact influences the company’s recruiting policy. The workers who are employed for their sporting talents tend to be segregated from the other ordinal co-workers. The managing effort, which was observed in “A” company rugby club, can overcome this difficulty and give a new perspective for utilizing sporting talent for business skill. | |||||||||||||||||||||
