 note = {On July 22nd 2008, an international seminar was held at Biwako Seikei Sport College featuring two prominent sport sociologists, Dr. Steven Jackson from the University of Otago, New Zealand and Dr. Chris Hallinan from Victoria University, Australia. Dr. Jackson is the President of the International Sociology of Sport Association and Dr. Hallinan is the Vice President of the same association. Special lectures were given by these two world class scholars on“sport and national identity in globalizing world”. Both lectures are summarized in this article. In the last chapter, the common viewpoints from both presenters were examined, and an extended discussion was carried out in the context of a sociological framework.},
